Officials of Lagos State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, on Thursday, 23rd July, paid an inspection visit to Jakande Fruits Market, in Ketu, Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area, to inspect the ongoing reconstruction of the market and at the end of the visit, gave a pass mark for the job done so far by the contractor.
The Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada in the company of some of her cabinet members and officials of the council led officials of the ministry to the market for the inspection exercise.
The ministry officials were impressed with the standard of work done so far by the construction firm handling the project. They urged the council chairman to ensure that all building laws and regulations as stipulated by the ministry are followed to the letter by the construction firm while carrying out the reconstruction work.
It will be recalled that following an agreement reached between the Jakande Fruits Market leaders and the construction firm, Total Value Integrated Service on June 6th,2020, reconstruction work began on a section of the market about a month ago.
According to the mayoress of the council, the motive behind the rebuilding of the market is to give it a modern outlook that will be in tandem with the smart city plan of Lagos state and also turn it to an international fruits market.
The project, according to the Chief Executive Officer of Total Value Integrated Service, Mr Chris Onyekachi would be carried out in phases to allow the traders continue with their daily business activities and within 18 months, the total reconstruction work would have been completed.
