The Graduation ceremony of over 250 women and youths in Ikosi-Isheri community came alive yesterday amidst pomp and pageantry as family and friends were on ground to celebrate with the graduands. The four weeks skill Acquisition program was put together by Lagos State ministry of women affairs and poverty alleviation in conjunction with Ikosi-Isheri LCDA.
The MAYORESS of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, Princess Samiat Bada in her opening remarks encouraged the women to see the initiative as an opportunity for self-reliance and transformation.
She stressed that the program is an opening for the beneficiaries to solve the problems of not their immediate family but the community at large. She thanked the ever working Governor of Lagos state Mr Babajide Sanwoolu for the youth-oriented program powered by the women affairs ministry under the leadership of Mrs Cecilia Bolaji Dada the honourable commissioner of WAPA.
The honourable commissioner for women affairs and poverty alleviation in Lagos state Mrs Cecilia Bolaji Dada in her speech said all the over 250 beneficiaries would receive start-up kits in their various areas of acquisition to launch out into business. She encouraged them to make judicious use of the golden opportunity to be free from poverty.
The short term skill acquisition training program includes beads making, tie and dye, event planning and makeup, soap making and a host of others. The graduating students were full of praise to the state government for coming to their aid at this crucial moment as they demonstrate what they have learnt.
The short event was witnessed by The honourable commissioner for women affairs and poverty alleviation Lagos state Mrs Cecilia Bolaji Dada, the MAYORESS of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, the permanent secretary to the WAPA Mrs Oluyemi Kalesanwo, the director Mrs Folake Shyllon, Ikosi-Isheri Deputy Mayor, Alhaji Mukaila Adisa, chairperson of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA Mrs Muyibat Balogun, Leader of the council Hon Usman Akanni and other legislators, Secretary to the Local Government, Hon Dolapo Bashiru, Supervisor for WAPA Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, Rosemary Olayemi Oshoffa and other exco members, Prince Olujobi Adegbola the Council-Manager and few management staffs as social distance culture was strictly maintained.
