Nigerian women have been advised to manage their homes and make their homes to be more homely for their family members, especially at this period when everyone is compelled to stay at home due to the Coronavirus pandemic combating the whole world.
The Chairperson of Somolu Local Government, Mrs Mariam Omotanwa Salawu sent the message to women when she was sharing food items to the elderly people in Somolu around Ijebutedo area. She was with the Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu as they shared the monthly welfare package for the elderly people in Somolu.
In her remarks, The Chairperson pointed out that the ‘stay at home’ period is a period when women are most needed and most useful at home as mothers, wives and home managers. “This is a period a woman has to serve as a homely teacher to her children, friendly wife to her husband and home manager to the family”, the Chairperson said.
According to Mrs Mariam Salawu, women can only be good managers at home when they take their time to study their children, husbands, family budgets, family incomes and family needs. She also said “This is a critical time for home management and time for spouses to know each other better and to determine what the family needs within the home budget and income as we have to be more active in our calculations as related to the kitchen, food stock, health being, laundry and most importantly the bedroom “,
However, the Chairperson who was in the company of the Hon. Abiola Fashoro (the women Leader), said husbands should also be helpful, friendly, romantic and feel at home as the ‘General Commander’ of the home at this period of movement restriction.
